June 12, 2021 - Madera Post 131

James Taylor, USCGR Special Investigator (Ret.), Canadian son of Ireland, co-founder of the Desert Coasties, and Drum Sergeant in the U.S. Coast Guard Pipe Band, related the origin of the Pipe Band, and the meaning of the CGPB tartan. He also entertained us with some personal stories and even revealed what is

August 4, 2021 - Coast Guard Day

On the 231st Birthday of the Coast Guard, Fry's Supermarket in Sahuarita (with encouragement from Jim Taylor and Bob Bonville) served cake to customers. The Desert Coasties had an impressive presence and recruited two new members.

Desert Coasties Christmas Party

About 70 CG vets and guests enjoyed great chow and even greater camaraderie to celebrate the holidays. One highlight of the evening was a tribute by Jerry, an Army vet, who thanked the Coast Guard for its role in Iraq assisting his unit.
