Celebration of Life for
Thor Thorsen
On December 14, 2019, a Celebration of Life was held at American Legion Madera Post 131 for our departed WW2 shipmate,
Thor Thorsen.
A moving two-bell ceremony was conducted by the representatives of the Sahuarita
High School Navy Junior ROTC.
The invocation and benediction were delivered by Desert Coastie
Sergio Naranjo-Borgefeldt acting as our Chaplain. Sergio was in his uniform as a chaplain with Customs and Border Protection.
Approximately 60 of Thor's family and friends attended. Our thanks to Jim and Linda Taylor for organizing the service.

In 2018, RADM (ret.) Cari Thomas and her colleagus at Coast Guard Mutual Assistance in Washington, DC, sent a video tribute to USCG WW2 vet Thor Thorsen on the occasion of Thor's 97th birthday.
